How many veneers will I need?

One of the questions, patients often ask is “How many veneers will I need to have a beautiful smile?” Many dentists take photos of a patient’s smile from multiple angles while the patient is in a full smile, and base the number of veneers on the number of teeth that show. At Vero Beach Art of Dentistry, Dr. Johnson Hagood, goes a step farther by giving patients a “Trial Smile.”

The Trial Smile can be created during their initial consultation. Dr. Hagood makes temporary composite veneers and lays them on the teeth to show the effect of veneer treatment. Based on how the smile looks with temporary veneers, Dr. Hagood and the patient decide together how many veneers will provide the look the patient wants. All this is done before the patient decides to invest in actual veneer treatment.
When you smile wide, you want all your teeth to match and look good. For many people, this will mean having eight veneers on their upper teeth. For other people, ten or twelve might be needed. And for others, only one to four veneers will meet their goal of masking imperfect teeth.

Often patients assume they will need veneers on both upper and lower teeth for a matched set of teeth, but this isn’t always necessary. It depends on how many of the lower teeth are exposed, and every face and lip line is unique to the individual. Small esthetic changes might be made with cosmetic bonding on some lower teeth instead of treatment with more expensive veneers.

Dr. Johnson Hagood is one of the nation’s few providers of a Trial Smile, and one of the nation’s most credentialed dentists for veneer treatment. Note: Veneers are so thin, teeth are barely modified, especially in the case of no-prep veneers. Veneers protect and strengthen teeth, in addition to making cosmetic improvements. They are one of the most conservative and low-cost ways to achieve an amazing naturally beautiful smile.
